The right necklace length starts with a measurement, not a gender label. Use a necklace you already enjoy wearing, then compare the chain length, adjustment range and any pendant drop.
Measure the part that goes around your neck separately from any pendant that hangs below it.
Open the clasp and lay the necklace straight without pulling or stretching it. Measure from end to end, including the fastening. If there is an extender, record the base length and the extra adjustment separately, and note the position you usually fasten.
For a gift, use a necklace the recipient actually wears at the intended position. A long pendant necklace is not a reliable reference for a close-fitting choker.
Use a flexible tape or a piece of cord to find the position you would like. Keep it comfortable and avoid pulling it tight. Measure the resulting cord length, then compare it with the product’s stated chain length.
For a close fit, check neck comfort and movement. For a longer necklace, try the position with the clothing you expect to wear. This is particularly useful for pendants worn over a T-shirt or knitwear.
The illustration shows relative lengths. It is an orientation aid: the same chain does not sit at exactly the same point on every person.
The chart measures necklace length from end to end. Its general pendant note suggests a chain no wider than 3 mm, but individual product restrictions take priority. Some Fibra chains are explicitly described as incompatible with our pendants.

One inch equals 2.54 cm. An 18-inch chain is 45.72 cm, so a 45 cm chain is close but not exactly the same length. Use the stated product measurement when comparing.
A necklace listed as 39 cm + 5 cm has a nominal adjustable chain range of 39–44 cm. Essence and Confidence use this listing. Passion and Joyful are listed at 40 cm + 5 cm, giving a 40–45 cm range.
An extender provides adjustment within that range. It does not turn a short necklace into a long one. When an extender is mentioned without a measurement, do not invent the maximum length.
The chain length measures the chain around the wearer. A pendant hangs below it and adds a separate visual drop. Solenne lists a 22 × 8 mm pendant on a 40 cm chain; Miraya lists a 12 mm coin on a 45 cm chain.
Adding the pendant height to the chain length does not produce a new wearable chain size. Record them separately when comparing pieces.
Check each layer. Elara lists 35/36 cm; Reverie 40/45 cm; Celestia 38/45/50 cm; Bloom 36/46/50 cm. The shortest layer determines the closest fit, while the longest layer and any pendants determine the lowest visual detail.
Compare the spacing too: Elara’s layers are only 1 cm apart, while Reverie’s are 5 cm apart. Both are layered necklaces, but the effect is different.
Width influences how prominent a necklace looks and whether it may work with a pendant. It does not tell you how far down the chain will sit. Compare a fine 2 mm wheat chain with a 6 or 9 mm Fibra chain at the same length to understand the difference.
Pendant compatibility also depends on the opening and the chain’s end fittings. Check the exact combination, particularly when a product page excludes pendant use.
Use these as ways to compare options, not fixed rules for where a length must sit.
Short designs often create a close neckline. In the Akitsune range, examples include Bliss at 35 cm plus 7 cm adjustment and Elara’s 35/36 cm layers. A close fit needs more attention to neck measurements than a necklace intended to hang loosely.
Do not choose a choker solely from a model image. The wearer’s neck size and preferred comfort determine whether the listed range works.
A 40 or 45 cm pendant necklace and a 70 or 90 cm statement necklace create very different proportions. Men’s chain families such as Franco offer several listed lengths, while some pendant products have one current configuration.

Use a necklace they wear at a similar position. If you know only the finish but not the preferred fit, ask a discreet question or consult someone familiar with their jewelry.
